The Ark was actually the remains of a wheelhouse boat called the Charles Van Damme that was scuttled in Sausalito.
The Sparrow, later Steppenwolf, was practically the house band here in 1966. Stephen Stills and Neil Young could be found gigging here as well as Moby Grape and other local Bay Area bands.
