In 1969 the Grateful Dead recorded the masterwork "Workingman's Dead" here. Other local bands such as Quicksilver Messenger Service and Steve Miller recorded here as well. Local FM radio station KSAN used the studio for live broadcasts.

on a damp night in '69/'70 i attended ( hi, Joy! ) a small birthday celebration for " big daddy " at pacific high. the event was simulcast, i suppose on ksan. tom was wandering about, in & out of the engineering booth. the performers were stoneground & the new riders. this was several years before pigpen's demise. there were no risers or anything, just carpets on the floor, a lot of dancing, etc. it was a blast, of course. is there a recording extant? any other participants care to chime in?
