In 1968 Fantasy's most successful act emerged when the local group Creedence Clearwater Revival released their first hit record "Susie Q". Saul Zaentz both owned Fantasy Records and was CCR's manager.

In 2004 Fantasy was sold to a consortium and merged with Concord Records. Soon after the company left Zaentz's control, John Fogerty, the singer/songwriter of CCR signed a new recording contract with Fantasy, reuniting him with the label that still owns the rights to much of his music.
