Both Charlie Deal and the 2 A.M. Club became quasi famous in 1984 when Huey Lewis and the News had a blockbuster album called Sports which featured on its album cover a picture at the club's bar. Prominently in view on the wall behind the band is a Charlie Deal toilet seat guitar.

Sadly, Charlie passed away on October 30, 2007.
