Some great early black groups played here at what came to be known as the West Coast version of New York's Apollo Theater. Such greats as the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, Earth, Wind and Fire, The Commodores and Parliament-Funkadelic as well as The Temptations, The Four Tops and The Supremes all played here.
