Since opening in November of 1952, this historic location hosted many great acts. Probably one of the more famous incidents occurred on September 15, 1967 when The Who appeared on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Keith Moon had his drum kit rigged to explode with a bit too much explosives. The ensuing explosion left Pete Townshend with a permanent hearing loss.
