Edward was the co-writer of Marvin Gaye's hit single "Let's Get It On." He is also the father of singer David Townsend.Earl Palmer
Earl was a highly in demand session drummer, he can be heard on many recording artists hits including Little Richard's "Tutti-Frutti", Fats Domino's "I'm Walking", Bobby Day's "Rockin' Robin", Ritchie Valens's "La Bamba" and Sam Cooke's "Twistin' The Night Away".
