Elektra Records, started in 1950 by Jac Holzman and Paul Rickholt, was a label that had the Doors and Love in the '60s.
Asylum Records, founded by David Geffen in 1971 and had such artists as Jackson Browne and Linda Rondstadt. It was acquired by Warner Communications and merged with Elektra Records in 1972 to become Elektra/Asylum Records. David Geffen remained in charge until 1975, when he resigned as director and went on to found Geffen Records.
