An influential small club where many bands including the "Go-Go's", "The Blasters" and "The Knack" played before they hit the big time.
Due to problems with neighbors, violence caused by fans of the band "Suicidal Tendencies", and legal problems related to business conflicts, the Cathay de Grande closed in 1986 with "Violent Psychosis", "The Mentors with El Duche" and "The Circle Jerks" performing the farewell show.
